Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram is advising the population to take a three-tiered approach when deciding to wear their masks on a voluntary basis when the mask mandate is lifted on July 17th.
Dr. Parasram says people should consider their level of risk based on the population, the individual and the site or type of event. As it relates to population, people should keep up to date with the new Positive cases, number of deaths, total Positive cases, and circulating variants in the country.
While masks will still be required at health institutions including dental clinics, Dr. Parasram recommended a few areas where masks should still be worn.
Dr. Parasram added that people who are more likely to become ill such as the immuno-compromised, the obese, pregnant women, the unvaccinated, and those over 60 years of age should continue to wear their masks.
