Common External Tariffs have been lifted on imported Almond Milk and Lithium Ion Batteries.
During the 56th Council of Trade and Economic Development in Guyana last week, Trinidad and Tobago’s proposals that the CET be lifted on both those items were approved.
The lifting of the tariff on Almond Milk imports is intended to allow this country to increase the duties on imported almond milk, thereby encouraging growth and sustainability of the local industry.
Meanwhile, the Lithium Ion Batteries for renewable energy systems will reduce the cost and provide an incentive to installing renewable energy systems.
Trade and Industry Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon led a delegation to the Meeting while other Ministers attended virtually.
