Corpus Christi Seedling Distribution

Locally, it is believed when you plant crops on the Corpus Christi holiday it will thrive because of the existing weather conditions.

As a result, the Greater Tunapuna Chamber of Industry and Commerce partnered with SURE Foundation TT to distribute over 25,000 seedlings to members of the community on Thursday, the Corpus Christi holiday.

President of the Chamber, Melissa Senhouse, hoped the seedlings would grow to supply nourishment to families.

Some of the seedlings distributed include stringbeans, tomatoes, lettuce, melongene, bodi, cabbage, parsley, and pigeon peas. Those who assembled at Trincity Mall received kitchen starter packs with at least five types of seedlings.

Director of Sure Foundation TT, Dr. Roger Hosein, said the distribution is meant to get people involved in micro sub-culture of agriculture.

An agronomist was also there to give advice on how to manage the new seedlings, and any existing crops that may exist at home.
