Today, Monday 15th November 2021, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young, received an introductory courtesy call from His Excellency Fernando Nogales Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain accompanied by Mr. Baltasar Fernández, Deputy Head of Mission at the Ministry’s Waterfront offices.
Minister Young was pleased to give Ambassador Nogales a brief summary of Trinidad and Tobago’s energy industry within the global context remarking that the country is perfectly poised to continue its focus on the move towards cleaner energy production in the current climate as well as the transition to renewable energy sources. Minister Young also spoke of the exploration of the possible commercialization of other commodities such as ammonia, methanol and methane within Trinidad and Tobago’s vibrant energy sector.
Minister Young and Ambassador Nogales discussed opportunities for cooperation between Trinidad and Tobago and the Kingdom of Spain and the interest in both commercial and political collaboration for the benefit of both countries. Ambassador Nogales highlighted the current strides being made by many Spanish companies in other Caribbean countries in the area of renewable energy and made clear his intention to establish strong bilateral relationships between Spain and Trinidad and Tobago and the willingness of such companies to extend their presence and expertise in the English-speaking Caribbean in the areas of digitalization and energy efficiency.
Both parties agreed that there were many potential partnerships available for the two countries.
