The Jamaica Tallawahs were off to a winning start in their first Republic Bank CPL match against the St. Lucia Kings last evening.
The Tallawahs amassed 187 all out in 20 overs with captain Brandon King leading at the top of the order with 81 from 53 balls. Roston Chase was the pick of the bowlers for the Kings, taking 3 wickets for 39 runs, supported by Alzarri Joseph’s 2 for 21.
The St. Lucia Kings were always on par with their required run rate chasing 188 for victory. Roston Chase hit a rapid 53 and Roshan Primus 37, but Imad Wasim’s deceptive bowling always kept the Tallawahs in play. He took 3 for 27 with Salman Irshad and Chris Green sharing two wickets each.
It was a close affair but the St. Lucia Kings fell short, finishing on 176 for 8, handing victory to the Tallawahs by 11 runs.
The St. Lucia Kings are in action once more this evening, clashing this time with the Barbados Royals on Match Day 2.
