The Trinbago Knight Riders suffered a 54-run defeat at the hands of the St. Lucia Kings in the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League.
Playing at the Warner Park Cricket Ground in St. Kitts and Nevis, Captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and sent the Kings into bat.
The Kings top order, led by opener and captain Faf Du Plessis (57), Johnson Charles (37), and a knock of 32 by Sikandar Raza, guided them to 167 for 5 from their 20 overs.
Veteran duo Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell led the Knight Riders’ bowling attack with two wickets each, with Bravo’s wickets costing 31 runs from four overs and Russell’s costing 28 from three.
In their reply, the four-time tournament champions Knight Riders were bowled out for 113 runs with Captain Kieron Pollard top scoring with 34, and opener Mark Deyal’s 33 the only scores of note.
Doing the damage with the ball for the Kings was former Knight Riders spinner Khary Pierre with four wickets for 20 runs.
This was the Knight Riders’ first official games as their first match against the St. Kitts Nevis Patriots was washed out.
