Cricket West Indies Lead Selector Ann Browne John says the inclusion of teenagers Jannellia Glasgow and Zaida James in a pre-series camp in Barbados is a good development marker for the women’s game.
CWI announced a 23-member squad for a medical and fitness live-in camp from January 9th to 14th in Barbados. From there, the regional women’s side will head to Johannesburg for a four-match One Day International Series against South Africa.
Britney Cooper, Shabika Gajnabi, and Shawnisha Hector have all been ruled out for medical reasons but Afy Fletcher returns after her year-long maternity leave. Also heading to the camp will be the experienced Anisa Mohammed, Reniece Boyce, and Karishma Ramharack
The final 18 will be announced at the end of the six-day engagement.
The Series begins with a warm-up match against a South African XI on January 25th at the Imperial Wanderers Stadium and begins in earnest three days later.
The teams will play two day matches and two day/night matches under lights.
