The employees of the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT), who were given an offer of redeployment after receiving Retrenchment Notices, were given offers they were not qualified for. This is according to Secretary General of the Communication Workers Union, Clyde Elder.
At a Media Conference on Friday, Mr. Elder said the jobs that the employees were offered require more qualifications and skill sets for the same remuneration package that they received before the restructuring exercise.
While the CWU is elated that there is an opportunity for employment, Mr. Elder said the positions being offered are unfair to the workers. He said the only thing comparable in what is being offered is the remuneration and terms.
