Massy Stores says it is not aware that any customer, supplier, or employee data had been compromised or misused, following a cybersecurity attack which affected its front-end checkout systems.
Around noon on Thursday, the company confirmed that all of its supermarkets were experiencing technical challenges and as a result, customers were unable to purchase items from its stores. In a subsequent update around 4pm, Massy confirmed that it was the target of a cyber-security attack which led to the difficulties.
The supermarket chain said it suspended all customer-facing systems and has been working with third party experts to resolve the situation. It added that backup servers were not affected and its technical team was working to restore the system.
The company also took the decision to remain closed on Thursday to allow for its system restoration in keeping with security protocols, but indicated that store locations will resume normal operations from Friday.
