Former Member of Parliament for Tunapuna, Esmond Forde, is confident that a ‘hat-trick’ is on the cards when the votes are counted on April 28th.
He spoke to the media following a walkabout on Thursday led by Prime Minister Stuart Young, who arrived with fanfare in Tunapuna.
Accompanied by the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne, the Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, and a large group of supporters, the contingent began their walk along the Eastern Main Road, continuing throughout Tunapuna and finishing at the Exodus Pan Theatre.
“With this, that we did here this evening, the momentum that Honourable Stuart Young brought to Tunapuna today, I am galloping on that, and from Monday, I’m hitting the road, ready to go.”
Mr. Forde expressed confidence that he would once again be given the opportunity to represent the constituency.
“They say the third time is pretty difficult, but first of all I want to thank the Almighty God, because it has been a very turbulent 2025 in the lead-up to me being accepted. Not all the time, sometimes your track record speaks for itself. I had to go through the screening as normal, there was a little turbulence, but I survived. So I’m working towards Nomination Day now. I have been selected.”
Mr. Forde said he would take an inclusive approach to his General Election campaign by collaborating with people from all sectors of society. He also plans to continue addressing the major issues in the constituency, such as crime, infrastructure, and employment opportunities.
“I’m a strong representative. I may not be able to deliver on everything, but rest assured, because of my relationships and networking skills, I am in your house, and you are able to love Esmond Forde. Once you come to love Esmond Forde, automatically you will love the PNM, and now you will have to love Honourable Stuart Young. That’s how I look at it. I work hard. I work throughout the years. The records are there to show what I’ve done.”
Mr. Forde has represented the people of Tunapuna for 10 years, and he said his team is ready to serve again once given the opportunity on April 28th.
