Thousands of fans gathered on the streets of Sao Paulo, having queued up overnight in order to pay their respects to the football legend, Pele, before his funeral.
Brazil’s Government declared three days of national mourning after his death, and the country’s new President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has travelled to Santos to pay his respects.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino also attended the memorial.
There were tears and applause, and some people fell to the ground in worship of the man who revolutionised football and made Brazil famous.
