Two business owners are counting their losses following a fire at the Drag Mall in downtown Port of Spain early this morning.
Reports indicate that at around 12:01am on Thursday, a security guard located at the Tax Appeal Board office on Frederick Street noticed smoke coming from one of the booths at the Drag Mall and immediately called the police. Fire officers from the Wrightson Road Headquarters rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze.
Booth 26 was completely gutted while the booth next door sustained substantial damage.
The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
Investigations are continuing.
