Fire At Military Museum

Fire officers responded to a blaze at the Chaguaramas Military Museum on Saturday.

According to reports, fire officers received a call about the fire at around 1:40pm. It was initially suspected that a bush fire spread to the compound housing the Military Museum. However, TTT News was reliably informed that persons occupying a building behind the Museum were doing some welding works when the building caught afire.

The Military Museum stores memorabilia from Trinidad and Tobago’s involvement in the First and Second World Wars as well as colonial-era military exhibits. A vintage BWIA commercial airplane is also on display.

The extent of the damage to the Museum is not known at this time.
