Fire Officers Had Enough Water To Fight Warehouse Fire At Bamboo No. 2

Low water pressure did not hinder the dousing of a fire at a warehouse in Bamboo Settlement No. 2 back in February.

On Friday, Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, sought to clear up allegations that low water pressure hindered fire fighters from putting out the blaze. He clarified that the supply of water to the Bamboo area is on a 24 hour/seven day a week schedule.

Minister Gonzales said WASA remains committed to working with the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service to ensure sufficient availability of water by installing fire hydrants, and responding swiftly to instances of fire. He said the issue at Bamboo is with the distribution system. He said the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service will continue to collaborate with WASA to mitigate similar situations.

The fire at Bamboo was said to have negatively affected at least nine businesses.
