Some residents of Sangre Grande and environs were among those left stranded on Tuesday morning due to street flooding following persistent rain overnight.
By noon, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) received several distress calls or hazard alerts. Among the areas most affected in Sangre Grande were Good Hope Street, Picton Road, Neeranjan Street, Ramdass Street, Adventist Road, Roopsingh Street, Ojoe Road, Eastern Main Road in the vicinity of the Manzanilla Gas Station and Sangre Chiquito, and along the Cunapo Southern Main Road.
In Siparia, at August Joseph Road, Coora Settlement Trace, and Gonzales Road. In Penal/Debe at Kay Trace, Mendez Village; Crawford Trace, Penal Rock Road. In Point Fortin, at Jattan Trace.
There were also reports of fallen trees at upper Santa Cruz and Toco Road and two landslides – one near Big Bay San Souci on the Paria Main Road and the other at Coora Settlement Trace, Siparia.
