Former Chairman and first Presiding Officer of the Tobago House of Assembly Dr. Jefferson Davidson passed away at the age of 95 on Sunday.
Via social media, current THA Presiding Officer Abby Taylor shared the news. She extended condolences to Dr. Davidson’s wife and family stating he fought valiantly and described him as a true son of the soil.
Dr. Davidson led the Assembly from 1986-1989 serving as the second THA Chairman; the title given to the Chief Secretary at the time. He succeeded Dr. ANR Robinson who stepped down to become Prime Minister. In 2021, Dr. Davidson was among former Chief Secretaries who met with Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and earlier this year, he received the Tobago Medal of Honor Gold.
