Countries and states should review the history behind the discrimination in global tax systems and the tools designed to favour wealthy states.
The idea put forward during a panel discussion on Tax Blacklists and Propaganda: Defeating the Discrimination and Pro-poverty Agenda on Tuesday. Panellist Law Professor Stephen Dean said he believes that countries need to decide “who should be in charge of the system”, “what changes countries need to make” and “the priorities.”
Also, Economist and Chief Executive at the Tax Justice Network Alex Cobham suggested that every country should participate in creating the rules that govern tax systems.
