HDC Recovers Millions During Collection Drive

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has collected $9 million from errant tenants as at April 2024.

The figure was disclosed by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Camille Robinson-Regis, as she responded to a Question in the Senate on Tuesday.

The Minister said those tenants did not respond to the HDC’s numerous attempts to encourage them to pay their arrears either by way of lump sum payments or through a payment plan. Additionally, she said they did not inform the HDC of any issues or challenges that prevented them from paying their arrears or honouring their monthly commitments. Minister Robinson-Regis said it is expected that evicted tenants will still settle their arrears.
