Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh said there should be no baby formulas from brands such as Similac, Alimentum or Elecare on the local shelves as a voluntary recall was issued for the products on Sunday.
Speaking in the Senate on Tuesday, Minister Deyalsingh said a reconciliation exercise was done on all the products, despite the country’s exclusion from the United States Food and Drug Administration’s Notification recall advisory.
On Sunday, the Ministry issued a press release advising the public that a limited quantity of the products were in the local supply. Persons were advised to discontinue the use of the products and return to the point of purchase, where necessary.
