Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says Government continues to explore options to procure the antiviral medication to treat COVID-19 known as Paxlovid.
Just last week, the US Food and Drug Administration fully approved the medication to treat mild to moderate COVID-19 in adults at risk of severe infections. It had however already been available for adults and teens in the US under an Emergency Use Authorization.
But Minister Deyalsingh said the antiviral medication still remains “out of reach” for many countries, including the region. However, he pointed out that there are still plans to have this medication procured.
