The Ministry of Health has issued a precaution regarding the ongoing poor air quality caused by the presence of Saharan dust haze in the atmosphere.
The public is being encouraged to take necessary precautions to protect themselves.
The Ministry has stated that elevated levels of Saharan dust haze may worsen health issues in individuals at higher risk for respiratory complications. This includes people with pre-existing lung conditions such as asthma or bronchitis, those with heart disease, the elderly, and young children.
Saharan dust haze can contain various particles that can lead to symptoms such as dry cough, sore throat, itchy and watery eyes, sneezing, and a runny nose, primarily due to the reduced air quality.
The most vulnerable individuals are advised to remain indoors, limit strenuous outdoor activities, wear a mask, and keep a rescue inhaler readily available.
Anyone experiencing difficulty breathing, a persistent fever lasting more than two or three days, or a worsening of pre-existing conditions should seek urgent medical attention.
