The first hearing for the postponement of Local Government Elections will begin tomorrow in the High Court.
This according to a statement from UNC activist Ravi Balgobin Maharaj.
The matter will be heard before Madam Justice Jacqueline Wilson.
The case was brought before the courts by UNC Activist Ravi Balgobin Maharaj against the Cabinet regarding the postponement of the Local Government Elections.
Local Government Elections were constitutionally due in December 2022 but was extended by one year. Rural Development and Local Government Minister Faris Al-Rawi said this extra year will allow for the roll-out of the local government reform package.
