Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Camille Robinson-Regis, has revealed that the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has paid over $300 million in debts to its contractors.
During the launch of the HDC’s ‘More Ways To Pay’ initiative on Monday, Minister Robinson-Regis said the Corporation was granted a Government-Guaranteed loan of $1.5 billion. She said $500 million was used to pay contractors and restart several projects.
The remaining $1 billion, which should be made available to the HDC by the end of this month, will be used to pay more debts. The money will also be used to fund new rental construction projects.
