Principal Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Maryam Abdool-Richards, has noticed an increase in the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases.
During Wednesday’s Covid-19 Health Update, Dr. Abdool-Richards confirmed that overall occupancy levels at the hospitals within the parallel healthcare system is at 41%. This accounts for 227 patients.
Dr. Abdool-Richards also noticed increased ambulance usage over the past month.
She added that data sourced between July 22nd, 2021 and August 10th, 2022 reveal that 80% of patients hospitalised for Covid-19 in the parallel healthcare system are not fully vaccinated.
Dr. Abdool-Richards called on people to get vaccinated, and encouraged those who are partially vaccinated to become fully inoculated.
