Increase In Gang Activity

There are over 100 active gangs in this country.

At Friday’s Police Press Briefing, Acting Senior Superintendent of the Central Intelligence Bureau, Kerwin Francis, said drug and firearm trafficking, and extortion, are among the main driving forces for increased gang activity.

He said individuals continue to be drawn to the gangs which remain an existing threat to the Police Service.

Assistant Superintendent Sheridon Hill explained some of the ways the TTPS has tackled the issue of gang activity.

ASP Hill said the Youth Clubs help to prevent young people from turning to a life of crime.
