Innovators Receive Grants

Fifteen Small and Micro Enterprise companies received millions of dollars in Grants on Tuesday from the European Union.

Minister of Planning and Development, Pennelope Beckles, says these awards will kick start a new era of income generation for this country.

The fifteen (15) companies were chosen from a group of over one hundred companies which applied for the funding.

They include a pharmaceutical company, a chocolate producer, and an agriculture firm among others.

The partners involved in the project are the Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI), The Ministry of Planning and Development, and the European Union.

The Grant Distribution Ceremony was held at the Hyatt Regency.
