Interns Graduate from CEPEP’s Summer Internship Programme 2022

August 16th, 2022 – The CEPEP Company graduated nine (9) interns this morning from its Summer Internship Programme at its Head Office in Ste Madeleine. The Company’s Chairman, Ms. Marilyn Michael in delivering opening remarks during this morning’s programme reflected on work-life saying that the Company was proud to be able to offer a taste of work life to the interns as an individual’s first foray into the world of work is meaningful and memorable and can influence how the public sector is perceived. She was delighted that the interns could attest to a positive and worthwhile experience.

CEO, Mr. Keith Eddy was pleased to deliver the feature address at this morning’s programme. He noted that the programme was temporarily suspended during the two-year COVID-19 pandemic but was happy that the programme could be resumed this year.

This year’s internship programme comprised of students who recently graduated from university, currently enrolled in tertiary level studies and high school students who had never been exposed to a professional office environment and those who are preparing for a career in various fields. Each intern was placed in a department according to their specialization or area of interest. These included Operations Management, Marketing & Communications, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Legal, Transport, and Finance.

Mr. Eddy noted that the experience and opportunity afforded to the interns for a two-month period was very unique and professional. The programme was designed to integrate practical and theoretical knowledge which would lead to improved interpersonal skills via weekly workshops. The interns benefitted from

workshops in Business Etiquette, Resume Writing and Customer Service and Emotional Intelligence and also went on site visits and field trips to areas of interest such as the Pointe-a-Pierre Wild Fowl Trust where they were able to participate in team-building activities, explore the nature trail and get a general appreciation for the environmental protection work that the Company engages in daily.

Mr. Eddy urged the interns to continue to excel in their academic endeavours and further challenged them to develop their skills in the areas of particular interest to them as passion and determination leads to success.
