Investigations into instances of illegal quarrying are currently ongoing by members of the Multi-Agency Task Force.
Director of Minerals at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, Monty Beharry, confirmed investigations are at different stages.
Mr. Beharry was speaking during a Public Accounts Committee Meeting in Parliament on Wednesday.
At a recent police press conference, ASP Leon Haynes of the Multi Agency Task Force confirmed that, since 2018, 127 operations were conducted that led to the seizure of 13 trucks, eight excavators, one bulldozer and the charging of 11 people.
When asked by Chairman of the Committee to detail the number of people that have been charged and the number of quarries that have been deemed illegal, Mr. Beharry said the information would be given at a later date.
But Permanent Secretary at the Energy Ministry shared some ways the State was dealing with the issue of illegal quarrying.
Mrs. Bradshaw-Niles hopes to complete the streamlining of the licensing of quarries in 2023.
She added that tender has been sent to get an aerial survey of the lands to determine which lands are under-licensed.
