The Catch National Junior Tournament rolls on this week with the finest young tennis players in the country.
Arguably the crown jewel in the competition is the region’s best Under-14 talent, Makeda Bain. The Form One student of Signal Hill Secondary kept it simple when revealing her plans for the week.
“I’m just looking to give 100% in everything and just to reach as far as I can.”
Her father and coach, Sheldon Bain, had some advice for young athletes and their parents: “You have to believe in your coach and stick with the process. Not everybody does win. But you have to stick with the process and look at the long-term goal. Even though your child or children may not be winning now, you have to stick to the process.”
