Man Shot At Valencia School

Investigations are being conducted into a shooting incident at a Primary School in Valencia this morning.

According to reports, a man was dropping off his son at the Cumaca RC Primary School at 8:05am when he observed a man known to him running towards him on the roadway. Police said the parent retreated onto the compound of the school where he was pursued by the armed man who allegedly fired several shots in his direction. The parent, who was hit in his right arm, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are searching for the shooter who escaped through a nearby cemetery.

No students or staff at the school were injured during the incident and school was dismissed for the day.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says its Victim and Witness Support Unit is working to provide psychosocial support to all affected in the incident.
