Marabella Residents Get New Homes

Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Faris Al-Rawi is highlighting his track record in fulfilling 10 out of 11 promises made in 2020.

Speaking at a Key Distribution Ceremony for homes at Bayshore in Marabella, the Minister criticised the United National Congress for what he called “bribery attempts,” and chastised the impracticality of their election promises.

“I told you I’d build a waterfront reclamation. Done. I told you I’d build a hospital car park. Done. I told you I would do Skinner’s Park. Done. I told you I would do Lady Hailes widening of the highway. Done. I told you I would do Bayshore development. Done. All of you get the drift? Now you tell me if you want to continue this vision. You tell me if you’re worth the bribery that the UNC passing. They’re passing around with $1,200. Do the math. Take the money and spend it slow because you’re not getting it again.”

The Minister said at least 10 keys to homes were distributed by UDeCOTT on Tuesday, noting that there is more to come.

He lauded such developments in San Fernando, suggesting that this is why the area has not been riddled with crime.

“We can show to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago that developments like this are the reason why San Fernando has much less crime than anywhere else. That’s the UNC trying to crawl up there. That’s the ants. They vex too bad, they send out yellow ants to come and bite your leg. But the simple point is this: Today we’re giving 10 homes out to 10 recipients. We have many more to follow. The intention is to replace every single squatting home in this country where we lawfully can do it with a new home.”

Minister Al-Rawi said this is a government policy intended to treat the most vulnerable people in society.
