Residents in Mayaro who are beneficiaries of the Self Help Programme are being urged to ensure this relief helps to transform their lives.
The plea from the Deputy Director at the Ministry of Community Development, Premnath Samlal.
On Monday, over 30 families received Grants from the National Commission for Self Help Limited for minor and emergency repairs of their homes.
Mr. Samlal said the Grants had a grand total of $600,000, noting that such Grants have empowered many communities across the country.
Director at the National Commission for Self Help Limited, Mrs. Gillian Amoroso, said the Commission continues to be determined to build resilient communities, with the ultimate aim to support vulnerable families following times of devastation. She hopes this will assist the 30 vulnerable recipients from Mayaro to rebuild and repair their homes and improve their standards of living.
