Minister Gonzales Awaiting Probe Into WASA Worker’s Death On The Job

Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, has assured Parliament that the findings of the investigation surrounding the death of a Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) worker in an open trench, while the worker was on duty, will be made public.

Speaking in the Lower House on Wednesday, Minister Gonzales noted that investigations have been launched by both the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) and Occupational Safety and Health Agency and Authority (OSHA).

In response to a follow-up question from Couva North MP Ravi Ratiram, Minister Gonzalez was unable to say whether an allegation of a cover-up, made by Labour Leader James Lambert, is true or not.

On October 22nd, WASA worker Kern Etienne was buried alive while standing in a 12-foot trench.
