Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds sought to justify the Government’s decision to ban the exportation of scrap iron for six months.
Speaking at the end of a Peace Walk held in the Gonzales community on Thursday, Minister Hinds explained that this was necessary in order to bring an end to the criminal enterprise which saw millions of dollars worth of assets being stolen and sold as scrap.
The ban on scrap iron exports will be in place until February 28th 2023.
