Minister Sinanan Denies Information On Oil Spill Being Withheld From THA

Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, is debunking statements that information on the oil spill has been withheld from the Tobago House of Assembly and, by extension, the Chief Secretary.

Via a media release, Minister Sinanan says he commiserates with the frustration experienced by the Chief Secretary in holding the rightful perpetrators accountable for what is indeed an environmental and economic challenge for Trinidad and Tobago. He says, however, in a matter of this nature, there must be full verification of information before making unwarranted statements.

Minister Sinanan says statements attributed to the Chief Secretary regarding a WhatsApp message and subsequent conclusions do not allow for the conducting of an investigation free from bias and innuendo.

The Minister of Works and Transport says he, in conjunction with the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, visited Tobago on February 9th to hold discussions with the Chief Secretary. And this was followed by further visits to Tobago on February 11th and 14th to ensure that all necessary assistance was being provided.

Minister Sinanan also says he and other Ministers have been in daily contact with the Chief Secretary.
