Minister Young Meets With Minister Of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation Of Suriname And Surinamese Delegation

The Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart R. Young, and Mrs. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary (A.g) of the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met this morning (Thursday 18th November 2021) with a team from the Surinamese Delegation visiting Trinidad and Tobago.

The team included His Excellency Mr. Albert R. Ramdin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation; His Excellency Mr. David Abiamofo, Minister of Natural Resources; Mr. Annand K.E. Jagesar, Managing Director, State Oil Company Staatsolie and Ms. Chanel V. Nahar Head of the Americas Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation.

Among other items, the visit sought to update Trinidad and Tobago on the status of Suriname’s developing energy sector including new oil and gas finds, with some focus on renewable energy. Opening the meeting, His Excellency Mr. Albert R. Ramdin acknowledged Suriname’s intention to reengage with Trinidad and Tobago not only on a political level but on other more sustainable levels as well. Suriname is at the beginning of their exploration into the energy industry and is seeking to collaborate and strengthen existing relationships so as to ensure sustainable future growth.
