Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young has added his voice to refute claims made by JTUM President Ancel Roget that the Prime Minister never invited him to meet to discuss Petrotrin matters.
On Monday, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley took issue with Mr. Roget’s calling him a liar, saying that he sent his invite in person through his Minister.
Today, Minister young issued a statement confirming this.
In his words, “in August 2017 I spoke to Ancel Roget and invited him to meet with Dr. the Honourable Keith Rowley, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago to discuss matters surrounding Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Petrotrin).”
He further confirmed that he had made it clear at the time that he the invitation extended to Mr. Roget was a personal one from the Prime Minister. Minister Young said he had several conversations related to the invitation with Mr Roget and eventually he declined.
