The Ministry of Planning and Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries; Seed Bank Unit, conducted a seed distribution drive for the staff of the Ministry of Planning and Development. The seed distribution drive forms part of the Ministry’s ‘Managing Your Food Security Programme’, to encourage staff to grow their own food to attain Theme I of the national development strategy, Vision 2030: Putting People First: Nurturing Our Greatest Asset, as well as SDG1: No Poverty and SDG 2: Zero Hunger. The seed distribution drive was also done to encourage staff to plant for the upcoming Corpus Christi holiday, which is a day traditionally known for planting crops. Seeds distributed included ochro, sorrel, bodi, corn and pigeon peas.
