Ahead of the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) 2024 examination results on Friday, the Ministry of Education has provided an analysis of those results and they are generally positive in nature.
Of the 18,177 students writing the exam, there was a general improvement in both Mathematics and English Language Arts Writing. This trend shows steady improvement from 2022 to now. While there was a dip in English Language Arts from 2023 to 2024, both years show marked improvement from 2022.
In 2024, the percentage of students scoring 50% and above on the SEA was 57.91% versus 58.06% in 2023 and 37.06% in 2022.
In 50% of 80 Primary Schools earmarked for special focus, the average weighted score of students has improved. The Ministry says this is partly attributed to its Remedial Education Programme, which will continue till the 2025/26 Academic Year.
The Secondary Vacation Revision Programme, which takes place at 21 centres across Trinidad, begins on July 15th, 2024.
