More COVID-19 Vaccines On The Way

Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh is urging the population to continue to stay vigilant following an announcement by the World Health Organization (WHO) that COVID-19 is no longer a public health emergency of international concern.

On Friday, the Ministry of Health issued a statement confirming that the Covid-19 virus still circulates at a very low level among the population. The statement also reminded persons to wash their hands, social distance, and wear masks.

Speaking at an Anti-Microbial Resistance Workshop on Tuesday, Minister Deyalsingh said there may be some misunderstanding as it relates to the current status of the pandemic.

Minister Deyalsingh said the vulnerable among the population are still urged to get vaccinated, get boosted and wear masks. While the current batch of Covid-19 vaccines expire in June, he said there are more on the way.

The Health Minister said he was happy to see people still wearing masks in certain situations.
