The Waterloo community in Central Trinidad stepped further into the technological era as the Ministry of Digital Transformation opened an Information Communications Technology Access Centre in the area on Wednesday.
Branded AccessTT, the Ministry of Digital Transformation’s ICT Access Centres aim to increase digital adoption through access to computers, training, printing, and scanning services.
Minister Hassel Bacchus said there are plans to open more than a dozen ICT Centres across Trinidad and Tobago.
“This is the nineteenth Access Centre that we’ve opened within Trinidad and Tobago. And there are a lot more that are on the way, actually, I think we have about five opening in Tobago and some others that are being opened here. We should get to about forty in a very short time.”
The Minister said the Centre is equipped with a cybercafé, a training room, and also boasts a Wi-Fi patio.
“The key to this is that the only way this kind of initiative is going to be successful is through use. And while the children represent an easy and low-hanging fruit, as a group of users, the adults should also be in here.”
