National Security Heads Talk Crime Fighting

Government met with top police officers on Monday to address the crime situation in Trinidad and Tobago.

Over the weekend, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Mc Donald Jacob, noted that murders had risen to over 500 for the year.

Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds spoke with reporters after the meeting. He assured that the discussions with the police were to reinforce government’s policy, which is to work to eliminate gang and criminal activity.

The Minister also told the media that this type of meeting is customary between government and the police as they continue to work together to deal with crime. The Prime Minister, he added, made it clear during the meeting, that the TTPS are receiving the resources they need, to address law breaking in the country.
