Tobago will soon receive an upgrade in the fleet of ambulances servicing the island.
This was the assurance given by Secretary of Finance, Trade and the Economy, Petal Ann Roberts, during a Tobago House of Assembly Briefing earlier this week.
“We have four ambulances that are currently being rebranded, licensed and registered and we will be purchasing eight more ambulances in Tobago and the Chief Secretary has indicated we have the downpayment on the eight so we have four on the way that should be disbursed to the Assembly in the next month or so.”
Secretary Roberts said the THA is going above the required ambulance service to ensure optimum service.
“Currently we own about two and I think we lease about six and they are not working at an optimal level right now so we are right now going to aggressively pursue eight more ambulances to bring the total fleet in Tobago to twelve. With a geographic space and demography of Tobago that we currently have, the optimal they did indicate was ten we will take it up to twelve so we can take care of any emergencies that we have in Tobago.”
