Employers who are delinquent with employees’ National Insurance payments, beware.
Chairman of the National Insurance Board, Patrick Ferreira, said the department is being strengthened with additional staff and more audits.
“We know we have a responsibility to the employees. So we stand by our responsibilities, but we are also going after the errant employers. To the full extent of the law. There’s a process, and we are following the process.”
Mr. Ferreira said an anonymous toll-free number has been implemented and is being utilised. Additionally, the implementation of online systems will empower employees to track their contributions and benefits.
“The employees are now going to be able to see that their contributions are being paid in real time. So that’s important. So we see that as well as the employees being the eyes and ears of their money and any reports that come our way, we will go after them.”
