World Record holder Nicholas Paul advanced into the final of the Elite Men’s Match sprint at the T&T National cycling championships in Couva.
In his third meet in two weekends on the National Cycling Velodrome, Paul eased past Ryan D’Arbreau in straight rides to advance to the final.
D’Arbreau’s strategy was no match for Paul’s raw speed in the first ride.
In the second D’Arbreau went on the offensive giving Paul a start, before the Olympian passed the upstart for the final spot.
He set up a final against Kwesi Browne.
Browne’s patience paid off when he found a hole to blow past Quincy Alexander in the first ride.
Quincy Alexander beat Kwesi Browne in the second but was sanctioned for a violation.
On Friday Akil Campbell was crowned national champioin in the Men’s Elite Scratch and Elimination races.
