A fire that sprang up on Wednesday in Beetham Gardens has left the community in tears and sadness after nine year old Aneilia Butler perished in the blaze.
After her remains were removed to the Forensic Science Centre, women could be heard weeping on the street.
Her mother is convinced that if she were at her Sixth Street home she could have saved her daughter’s life.
Reports are that the Fire Service was alerted around 2pm and sped to the site. They got there in time to see the home ablaze and another house also on fire. The firemen put the fire out but were then told a nine year old girl was missing. On checking, they found Butler’s body in one of the rooms.
Two adults along with two other children were in the house but they escaped.
Up to press time, the cause of the fire was not yet known. Both police and T&TEC are said to be continuing investigations.
