The question of having Carnival celebrations for 2022 is still in the air as we await the decision from the Prime Minister.
Head of the National Carnival Commission, Winston “Gypsy’ Peters, says that we must wait. He says the intended Carnival will include enclosed events. Dialogue has been had with San Fernando Arima and Port of Spain.
He says that this week collaboration will start with the Tobago House of Assembly. However he is a little wary of what the outcome may be. The NCC Chair suggests that Tobago can and will do what they want, recalling that when he was Minister of Culture he was not able to freely do what he wanted in Tobago.
Mr. Peters however emphasises the main message with respect to Carnival is that the die has not yet been cast so we must have patience as we await the decision from the Central Government.
