Government is moving to make clean energy more affordable by helping to lower the cost of lithium ion batteries.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry, in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, has taken action to remove import duties on these batteries used in renewable energy systems. The duties will remain off the items for two years from July 1st, 2023.
The measure is intended to reduce and provide an incentive to install renewable energy systems, thereby making these systems more accessible and affordable for adoption.
Lithium Ion Batteries are vital in the powering of renewable energy systems versus conventional batteries.
