Several flights were grounded, while one awaiting landing confirmation was forced to return to Tobago on Wednesday morning as operations at the Piarco International Airport runway were suspended.
TTT News understands that dogs on the runway caused the temporary suspension of flights. According to reports, BW1503 departed the ANR Robinson International Airport in Tobago after 7am heading to the Piarco International Airport. However, the flight could not land and returned to Tobago after circling for approximately 30 minutes.
Speaking to TTT News on the incident, Airports Authority Corporate Communications Manager Zola Joseph said the situation was contained and that safety protocols were immediately activated.
The runway was cleared and flights resumed just after 9am.
