The Caroni River has topped its banks, resulting in flash flooding along the Southbound Lane of the Uriah Butler Highway.
As a result, the Ministry of Works and Transport is advising motorists to drive at a reduced speed and proceed with caution near the Caroni Flyover on the Southbound Lane along the Uriah Butler Highway.
The Ministry says the acceleration ramp, the slow lane, and the shoulder of the Southbound Lane are flooded but still passable to vehicular traffic.
Meanwhile, Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, and Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management, Major General Rodney Smart, accompanied members of the TT Regiment, representatives of the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government, and several Non Governmental Organisations as they delivered relief supplies to impacted residents in Bamboo Settlement Number 2.
According to reports, flood waters are estimated to be as high as 4 feet in some areas in Bamboo Settlement Number 2.
